Jump Back Ball 0023:Shaken Not Stirred

It was a magical evening. The air was crisp, the snow was melting and Euclid Avenue had just a little extra sparkle to it. The 23rd annual Jump Back Ball had arrived and Cleveland was ready to party. Attendees were inspired and had turned it out in costumes, tuxedos and long, glistening gowns. There were Bond girls to rival any of the 23 movies and a few villains, but the black Bond tuxedo was the look of the night and, let me just say, we have some dashing men in this city! The people watching is always just as good as the party itself.

Exhibit A - Mr. Morris & Mr. Smith
The VIP hour started at 6pm in the stunning, and my favorite, Palace Theatre Lobby. Cocktails and nibbles were on hand as the crowd worked the red carpet, mingled and noshed on offerings from Dante Boccuzzi's 5 local restaurants. Ginko served up vegetarian spicy sushi pops while DANTE wowed with a creamy polenta with tomato braised pork ragu and their famous butternut squash bisque. DC Pasta turned out the best (and fluffiest) arancini I've ever had while the soon-to-be-open DANTE Next Door offered up a seafood salad presented in sardine cans. Dessert at any of Dante's restaurants is always a can't miss event and DBA's mini banana foster parfaits were no exception. Chocolate mousse tarts were also available but I could barely concentrate once I had dipped my mini spoon into said parfait.

At 7, guests started making their way to the State Theatre where the lobby and theatre was open to explore. Silent auction and raffle tables lined the lobby which was ensconced in a magical glow. Driftwood catering provided an incredible dinner buffet of all things Bond, including Shepard's Pie and white truffled asparagus. Once dinner was cleared Your Villain My Hero took to the stage and it was officially time to party. The Bond theme continued with imaginative cocktails, martinis and a champagne bar.

Pop Rocks kept the party going well into the evening with a rock-heavy mix of all our favorite pop music. Driftwood was on the scene with late-night nibbles of white and dark chocolate cheesecake pops, 'Quantum of Beef' sliders and an array of flatbreads. The casino in the mezzanine level was abuzz all night and the wine pull was a huge hit.
the ice sculptures are always my favorite and this year was no exception / martinis for miles

Cable Knit Crush

{via}
I love the snow. I do.
Those warm winters we've had? (Can you even remember them?) I've been known to threaten the husband that we're moving to Nova Scotia for more snow. And now I realize I'm being paid back.
But this cold. This arctic freeze or polar vortex or whatever they are calling it, isn't going away anytime soon. So I'm crushing hard on cable knit anything.

Love Is In The Air At Lago

This past Thursday I had the pleasure of meeting some of my favorite ladies for a Valentine tasting at Lago East Bank. Lago has been a household favorite for quite some time and it was a weekly staple when they were located in Tremont. Their move to the east bank of the flats hasn't lessened the love and it just might be even better. This Valentine's Day (and Saturday) they are holding a prix-fixe dinner that is sure to leave you swooning. So grab a date or a few friends and snuggle up to the cozy-chic vibe at Lago.
Sommelier Sean Brickley knows a thing or two about the ladies and he was smart to start us off with a prosecco toast. If you haven't been to one of his Thursday Weekly Wine Tastings, you're missing out. His laid back sensibility doesn't get in the way of his enthusiasm for new and interesting finds. Some of my current standbys have been hand-selected by him. Even for a quick mid-week bite, he always has a fun (and budget-friendly) recommendation. Most of their wine list is available by the glass so you really can't go wrong.

Can't make it for Valentine's day? Mark your calendar, because their upcoming events list looks stellar.

Jump Back Ball - Shop Nights & A Wyndham Giveaway

Happy February! I can't believe it's here already, which means Jump Back Ball 0023: Shaken Not Stirred is right around the corner. We are currently knee bow-tie deep in creating the set decor and activities for a spectacular night! Want to be part of the fun? Shop nights have already begun and for every one you attend you'll be entered into a raffle for a free night at the Wyndham Hotel for the night of Jump Back Ball on February 22nd!

What are Shop Nights?
This is where we create all the set decor that you'll see and experience at JBB. Since we're trying to raise as much money as possible for PlayhouseSquare, we rely on volunteers to help us make everything for a fantastic evening.

But I'm not crafty...
Me either. Arts and crafts just aren't my thing. Not to worry, no skill is required, just come and have fun. There are many projects from paint-by-numbers to gluing, cutting fabric, hammering and let's not forget the glitter. Volunteers are on hand to take you step-by-step through everything.

I already reserved my Wyndham stay...
No problem! PlayhouseSquare will take care of it.

What's the catch?
There is no catch. You don't have to be a member of PlayhouseSquare Partners or affiliated with Jump Back Ball in any way. For every Shop Night you attend, your name will be entered into a raffle. The more you attend, the more entries you get. A winner will be announced at the Thursday, February 20th Shop Night. (winner need not be present)

Monday, February 3rd
Thursday, February 6th
Monday, February 10th
Wednesday, February 12th
Monday, February 17th
Thursday, February 20th (winner announced!)
Friday, February 21st (set up day)

All Shop Nights, with the exception of Set Up Days are held on the 4th floor of the Idea Center accessible from Dodge Court across from the PlayhouseSquare parking garage and run from 5:30-8:30pm. A light dinner is provided c/o Clark Pope Catering. Please bring your own beverages.

Directions: From the PHS Parking garage off Chester Ave - Exit the garage at Level 1 and walk across Dodge Court to the Idea Center Bldg. Go through the door and security will direct you to the 4th Floor. Take a left out of the elevators and down the hall.

::Disclosure - I am a member PlayhouseSquare Partners and a Jump Back Ball co-chair, so please swing by and say hello. This contest is being held by PlayhouseSquare as a thank you to our wonderful volunteers for all their hard work::
