Collabaholic - Milly For Banana Republic

Grab a cocktail and meet me poolside. Milly has teamed up with Banana Republic for a limited edition collection that will surely heat up your summer. Milly's colorful Hamptons-inspired prints lend a whimsy to the sophisticated, iconic pieces that Banana is known for. Feast your eyes...

This collection includes over 60 pieces for men and women priced from $24.50-$175. Standard silhouettes are refreshed with bright pops of neon accessories, jewelry and totes. Perfect for a little (or a lot) of summertime style.

Two of my favorite pieces include the colorblock, pleated maxi dress as seen below on Maria Menounos and the fit and flare striped dress on Zoe Saldana. Olivia Palermo rocking the printed shorts with a simple blazer and button-down is effortlessly chic for chilly mornings.

What are you loving? Check out the entire collection now available.

Smitten With The Silver Spoon Awards Party

Seriously. This is my favorite food & wine event of the spring/summer. Maybe even the entire year. Cleveland Magazine's Silver Spoon Awards Party was last week and I must admit, I'm a bit sad it's over and I have to wait an entire year for it to come back.

Ridiculous fun always ensues. From seeing a million people you know (finally got to meet Sean in person) to stuffing yourself with the best food, wine and cocktails the city has to offer to the over-the-top silent auction and raffle, this is one party you don't want to miss.

Food/Drink
clockwise from top left: infused cocktails in the VIP lounge / the Hodge's crew serving up cocktails / lobster & rock shrimp rolls at Hodge Podge / Zack Bruell / a wicked lamb belly taco / chicken paprikash, Deagan style
Last year the VIP lounge was nice but this year it was stellar. Hodge's was my personal fave serving up the best new cocktail I've had in a while. A strawberry julep. They continue the love with an insane lamb belly taco with strawberry jalapeno salsa and cotija cheese. Sadly, I was told this wouldn't be added to the menu but may appear as a special from time to time. If you see it. Order it! Your tastebuds will thank you.

Other favorites of the evening included Ginko's sushi (no surprise there). Once you go Ginko you can't go back. Deagan's chicken paprikash, Light Bistro's spring pea & mint soup with ramp pesto and L'Albatros' spring vegetable garden tart with foie gras and watercress were also to die for.

The People
clockwise from top left: the uber-chic momma-to-be, Jessa / two of my favorite fashionable gals (and my giveaway winners) Morgan & Kate / the best dressed couple of the evening, Jen & Matthew / event planner extraordinaire (who doesn't take herself too seriously), Alicia (and her super fab husband in blue, Hans) / my love, Quintin from Ginko & I

Also ran into...
the always funny and fantastic Alexa, who wowed us all with a performance of the traditional Greek wedding dance
Charlene and Leah (who I never get enough time with!)
Cleveland's most fun couple to hang out with, The Hickens
the incredible Kasey Crabtree (happy hour, stat!)
Team PIP, Momma LaVec and Aunt Kathy
Dino Palmieri and his son who used to be frequent passengers on my flights (back when I did that)
and about a million more!

wait, they let us eat, drink and then blog about this?
amanda / alicia (who put this entire thing together) / jen / me

This year's festivities were held at the InterContinental Hotel and I must say, the space was perfect. Tons of room to move about and a beautiful one, at that. I don't know how they pulled it off and how they could possibly top themselves next year. Hats off to everyone at the Arthritis Foundation, Great Lakes Region, Northeastern Ohio. Well done!

::disclosure - I was given a VIP pass c/o the Arthritis Foundation. I would be attending this event regardless and all musings are my own::

Mad Men Monday - Swordfish & Summer Cocktails

It's May and the weather in Cleveland has finally given us a break. We're now enjoying a splendid late spring filled with mid-70's temps, extended days and long blissful evenings on the patio. After a few heavier and heartier dishes we were all ready for something a bit lighter and easier, that would still make for a lovely dinner. What better way to celebrate the start of patio season than with Swordfish steaks and summery cocktails made-to-order.

But first...

A pre-dinner ride is always recommended.

Time to get the patio stocked for some new summer cocktail recipes I've been stalking on pinterest.

You must try these summer sippers. Chelsea + Tec Petaja's 'magic juice' via Design*Sponge; Grand Mariner smash via PURE; The Hopeful Spinster from Garnish with Lemon

Dinner was ridiculously easy.

Grilled swordfish with a cucumber/avocado/pomegranate seed salsa, herbed grilled corn and my go-to summer spinach pasta was complete in under 15 minutes.

Cheers!

Exxopolis - A Bit Of Zen In the City

Last night, I got a preview of Architects of Air: Exxopolis, which is part of PlayhouseSquare's International Children's Festival that runs Thursday, may 9th through Saturday, May 11th.

Taking over the entire parking lot across from PHS is the largest bouncy house I've ever seen. Approaching the massive luminarium, I was unaware of what to expect. After experiencing what I can only describe as a wonder of art, light and imagination, I'm unsure of how I can properly put into words exactly what it is.

An experience.

After 20 mins inside of Exxopolis, I emerged relaxed with an overabundance of zen-like calm. Kind of a post-yoga glow (without the sweat and hard work.)

Natural light is the only thing that guides you through tunnels of wonder and color.

It definitely isn't the child-like adventure I thought it was going to be. After seeing this advertised, I thought it was a cute idea to take the kids to. Now, I think every stressed out adult I know could use a good 10-20 mins of time out in this structure of wonder. So carve some time out of your busy day this week and find a little zen. It's not just for the kids.

Thursday, May 9th 12-7P
Friday, May 10th 11:30-6:30P
Saturday, May 11th 10-6P
Cost - $5
Tickets avail here for presale or on-site.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Fully accessible for wheelchairs or persons with disabilities.

While you're in the neighborhood, be sure to check out all the wonderful activities during the International Children's Festival presented by Children's Hospital of the Cleveland Clinic.

::Disclosure - I was invited to attend a media preview for this event. All musings are my own::

Spring Cremes - Shellac Lilac Longing & Gelish Sweet Morning Dew

It's no secret that I have an affinity for creme polish. No sheers, no shimmer, no glitter, which is really odd because everything is better with sparkle (or feathers), right?! Just give me super opaque cremes. Thankfully my girlfriends can rock the glitter and so I get to live my nail fantasy through them. Anyway....

After loving Gelish's All Dahlia-ed Up from their Love In Bloom collection, I decided to keep the spring pop of color going with Sweet Morning Dew. This is officially a new fave.

Two weeks later I was sad to have to pick a new color (seriously, that's how much I adored this pale melon orange) but decided on trying one from Shellac's spring line. Lilac Longing.
