2013 Emmy Fashion Roundup

Fall has officially arrived and awards season has kicked off as well! Here's my recap of the hits, the misses and the trends of last night's Emmy awards. What did you love?

Best Dressed
The stunning simplicity of these two dresses has me breathless.

Jewel was positively glowing, the bow and colorblocking on Michelle's dress is a perfect hit and I haven't seen a better color on Alyson than this deep plum.

Perhaps they were drinking while dress shopping? Julie Bowen's dress conjures up images of a bad 80s bridesmaid moment while I just don't get where Jessica Pare was going with this Oscar number. I applaud risk-taking, but there are no words for Zosia's dress.

Just Missed The Mark
 Love you but not your dress! Oh Julianna! How I adore you (and Reed Krakoff!) but this was simply not Emmy appropriate. Emily's ill fitting dress leaves me frustrated while Zooey looks very mother-of the-bride.

Staying true to the Morning/Afternoon/Evening campaign concept, I was excited to find things for the office, evening out and night in.

Surprisingly, I ordered 2 handbags. I've never been a fan of the non-leather, vegan type purse. Every collab that comes out with handbags is so pretty online - only to look and feel cheap in person. So I'm reserving my judgement on these until I see them in person. Fingers crossed!!!!

Nordstrom Rack Opens and a Cool Cocktail for September

Nordstrom Rack at Crocker Park finally opens today! I got a sneak peak at a shopping event on Tuesday that had a ton of excited women propelled by fashion, bargains and bubbly, of course. The lovely employees were at the ready with drinks, snacks, advice and a bit of humor for what will surely be one crazy week for them. I saw and scored some MAJOR deals. DVF at 80% off? Yes, please.

marked down from $198 to $26 (and hopped right into my bag!)
Tory Burch cardigans were severely marked down and Calvin Klein and Tahari dresses were at unbeatable prices. I may have walked away with more than I planned but Nordstrom Fashion Rewards members received triple points that night so it was a win-win.

The fun starts Thursday at 8am with breakfast treats and music with the doors opening at 9am. Early attendees can enter to win one of 30 $100 gift cards and one lucky winner will receive a $1000 gift card and the chance to peep the store before anyone else with an 8:30am admission. Nordstrom Rack is located on the Promenade side of Crocker Park in the former Borders location.

I'm not usually a frozen cocktail type of gal, but Tuesday's record-breaking 96 degree temps had me quite desperate for something to chill me out. The fabulous Mrs. Lilien to the rescue! One quick flip of her cocktail swatchbook and I immediately forgot about the sweltering heat.

Enter....the Mrs. Basil Rita. Sublime.

Bethenny Frankel - Calling All My Girls Tour

Last Monday, former Real Housewife, Skinnygirl maven and New York Times bestselling author, Bethenny Frankel was in Cleveland. She brought her Calling All my Girls Tour, an 8 city cocktail party to celebrate and launch her new daytime talk show, bethenny, to the CLE. This invite-only affair was held at the stunning MOCA and was filled with cocktails, girl talk, tons of laughter.

Bethenny has been on a first-name basis in the Smitten household since I fell in love with her wit, spontaneity and tell-it-like-it-is mentality when she was runner-up on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart in 2005. Since then she became the funniest Real Housewife to ever hit the Bravo network and has turned her Skinnygirl brand into a multi-million dollar empire with cocktails, workout videos, books and more.

So imagine my excitement when I get an email from her PR team asking if I'm available to attend?! Shrieks and screams ensued. Feverish calls and texts were made to my girlfriend, Charlene, who may have text me "shut up!" a million times (seriously). Plans were made and outfits were confirmed.

We arrived to MOCA, were ushered in, given blogger credentials and handed a glass of Skinnygirl sparkling Moscato.

The space was transformed into an ultra-chic and swanky space filled with crisp white and pink and tongue-in-cheek touches like "It's hot as balls!" pillows. Anyone who knows me can understand what a good girl I was being not swiping one of those beauties for my house. A few more cocktails perhaps. There was a 'confessional' photo booth, DJ and plenty of spaces to mingle.

The lady of the hour came out to cheers, dancing, clinks of cocktail glasses and hilarity ensued. This is one funny, bawdy, heartwarming woman, and let me tell you, she does NOT disappoint!
