Rolling On The River Recap 2012

Last Friday night I had the pleasure of attending the 6th annual Rolling on the River. It was an evening of gaming and giving back, benefiting the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland. Windows on the River was the perfect backdrop and they did a spectacular job of transforming the space into a casino.

Tables and tables of silent auction items greeted you as you entered. In fact, the bounty was so impressive it took me awhile to migrate out of my wonderment and into the rest of the room.

Keep Calm and Bid On was the theme.

Blackjack tables took up the middle of the main room with roulette and craps tables along the sides. Everyone was given $2000 in "casino money" to gamble with. You could then turn your winnings into raffle tickets for fantastic prizes.

I'm usually not a gambling girl, but since this was fun money I was determined to get my game on. Note to self - next year, grab a seat at the blackjack tables first. Those fill up fast. I tried my hand at roulette was was up about $2000 when I lost all but $500 at the craps table. The band was mad fun and was playing my favorite Frank, Ella and Louis Armstrong favorites. Who doesn't love a flirty Sinatra-esque lead singer in a fedora?

There was so much to do between the silent auction, cocktails, games, green screen and photo booth, I had to remind myself to eat. All in all it was a splendid night supporting one of our regions great charities. I'll definitely be back next year!

photo booth time!

The evening wouldn't be complete without the post-fundraiser tradition of a beer at the Harbor Inn.

::Disclosure - I was honored to be invited to this event by the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland in exchange for sharing my experience. All musings are my own. I will be first in line to buy tickets to this great event next year!::
