I Became A PlayhouseSquare Partner

The past week was an exciting one. I officially became a PlayhouseSquare Partner! I'd been looking into joining for some time now. I checked out a few organizations before I settled on one that was fun, fit into my schedule and gave back to the community. It didn't hurt that the theatre is so close and I love any excuse to go. Oh, and they have really fun events!

Partners is the Young Professionals group of PlayhouseSquare. Since 1991 they have raised over $2.5 million in support the not-for-profit mission of the theatre. Members have the opportunity to attend previews, social events, network and volunteer at one of our cities greatest treasures. Which, by the way, is the second largest theatre district in size and production numbers only to Broadway/Lincoln Center.

There are many donation levels to choose from starting at $50 and continuing on to $500 for Standard Memberships.

Here are just some of the top perks & benefits:
Balcony's Best ($50-$75)
- Opportunity to join a Partners Committee
- Invitations to all Partners events

Mezzanine Master ($100-$299)
{all the above and}
- Discounted admission to Jump Back Ball (the annual black-tie gala held in the State Theater) and other seasonal events
- Advance notice and pre-sale ticketing for select productions
- Invitation to Broadway pre-show receptions, master classes and events

Orchestra Ovation ($300-$599)
{all the above and}
- Invitation to a Leadership Society event
- Invitation to special receptions
- A dedicated phone line for all your ticketing needs

I went in with the idea of donating at one level, but with a cocktail in hand, the husband's prodding and Charlene noting that you can split your donation up quarterly, we went a step further. I really hope they keep the option of quarterly payments in the future. It really is quite budget-friendly.

One of the most exciting aspects is being able to join a Partners committee. This is not a requirement. That's the wonderful thing about the program. You can contribute as much or as little as you want. You can co-chair a committee, help out when you have time or just give your donation, sit back and enjoy the perks. There are 6 committees: Communications, Education, Fundraising, Jump Back Ball, Membership and Social.

I first learned about Partners from Amanda at Clue Into Cleveland. She is one of their biggest cheerleaders and last year co-chaired Jump Back Ball. Everyone I've met has been not only kind but wickedly fun and charming. We all have a great love for our city, like to socialize and enjoy a cocktail with a side of culture. I felt instantly welcomed and every new event I attend I meet even more people who fit this bill.

Looking to join or just want to find out more? Check out one of these upcoming events:

8/15 Partners Dine Around 6:30P - Participants are split up for dinner at several local restaurants (based on preference) then everyone meets back up at Blue Bar at the Wyndham for an after-dinner drink.

9/7 Playhouse Square District Block Party 5-9P ($25 public, $10 members) - Kick off the season with an end of summer block party.  Signature foods, walking tours, live music and more.

9/17 Partners September Committee Meeting - Happy Half Hour 5:30P - Meeting 6P - Here's your opportunity to find the committee that best suits you.

9/29 Ohio State vs. Michigan State Viewing Party - Save the Date. Time & Location TBA

Earlier this week I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the incredible puppetry that is Joey the War Horse at a donor event. More on that tomorrow.

  1. Can I steal "cocktail with a side of culture"?

    Kind of love that.

    So glad you joined and looking forward to the year ahead!
