Tastes of the Season

This is the beginning of my favorite time of year.  The Starbucks holiday drinks are out, the temperatures are falling, and I just want to lounge about the house in a cozy sweater and cook.  and eat!  Every year I look forward to pumpkin, gingerbread and peppermint everything.  Here are the treats I can't wait to tuck into.

Crate & Barrel

Holiday Spice Pancake Mix $6.95

Pumpkin Ginger Rice Pudding Mix $7.95
A-ma-zing! Creamy, warm, delightful goodness.  And super easy to make.  Top with some spiced roasted nuts and
it's great for entertaining.

Fig & Walnut Jam $5.95
(I will buy anything that says 'Ideal for Goat Cheese' on the label!)

I'm not a big tea drinker anymore, but these three could get me back in the mood.

Cranberry Ginger Black Tea $12.95

Apple Cider Herbal Tea $9.95

Pumpkin Chai Red Tea $12.95

Cider Bourbon Roasting Glaze $12.00
Unbelievably good on a variety of meats, roasted or grilled.  The jar will last quite awhile too.

Truffle Finishing Sauce $29
While the other finishing sauces (black currant, fig bourgogne and marsala) run $16 a bottle, this is still a deal considering it
has french black truffles AND truffle oil.

Pumpkin Curry (20 minute) Simmering Sauce $12.50
Caramelized onions, roasted serrano chiles, coconut milk, ginger and pumpkin? Yes, please.

Braising Base $16-$18
Meyer Lemon,  Beef Bourguignonne, Coq Au Vin, Yankee Pot Roast, 40-Clove Garlic Chicken, Belgian Beer & Onion,
Short Rib, Osso Bucco, Chicken Cacciatore.
I've tried many of these and have not been disappointed.  Perfect when I'm working a long day and don't feel like cooking.  Easily thrown in the slow-cooker, dutch oven or roasting pan.  I usually use half at a time (freezing the other half). Adding stock or wine to the base.

Five Apple Cider Concentrate $20.50
This has a cult following for a reason, it's THAT good.  Keep in mind it's concentrated using 5 apple varieties.
This goes on sale after the holiday, so you might want to stock up then, too.

Hot Chocolate & Peppermint Hot Chocolate $19.50 ea or $33 for set of 2
Decadently rich flakes of premium chocolate that you stir into warmed milk.

Handcrafted Marshmallows $16.50
Available in chocolate or vanilla, these enormously light and fluffy marshmallows melt slowly upgrading any hot cocoa.
